Switch without desktop flashes
Latchy shows the next window first, then hides the previous one. The goal is simple: no empty desktop gap between tabs.
Create groups by dragging
Hold Shift while dragging one window onto another. Latchy shows a clear overlay before it creates a new group or adds to an existing one.
Save work groups for later
Groups stay in your library. Latchy remembers the apps, window titles, documents, URLs, and Finder folders it can use to rebuild the group later.
Built around real macOS limits
macOS does not let one app re-parent another app's windows. Latchy uses Accessibility and WindowServer observation to make the illusion practical.

Hold Shift to reveal the island
The tab island appears above the active grouped window only while you need it.

Press Tab to move through tabs
While the island is open, Tab cycles through the group's apps and commits when you release the modifier.

Drag a tab out to detach it
Pull a tab out of the island and the real app window lands where you drop it.
FAQ
Why does Latchy need Accessibility permission?
It needs Accessibility access to read and move other apps' windows. Without that permission, macOS blocks the core tab-group behavior.
Does it merge windows for real?
No. macOS does not allow cross-process window embedding. Latchy keeps real app windows and coordinates their position, visibility, and focus.
Can one app have windows in multiple groups?
Latchy tracks windows by WindowServer identity where possible. Some same-app multi-window cases still depend on macOS behavior and app compatibility.
Is it available on the Mac App Store?
No. Apps that control other apps through Accessibility cannot ship in the App Store sandbox. Latchy is designed for direct distribution.
